The Fisheye No.2 and Double Exposure – A Multilayer Adventure

1

When you use a camera such as the Fisheye No.2 35 mm, it is with the intention of making a bold statement. This lens delivers out of the ordinary frames, or perhaps we should say rounds.

The lens itself sets the tone to look at the ordinary things around yourself in a distinctive way. This will diversify your images, and make a break from the straight and rigid points of view of any classic lens.

The Fisheye No.2 is reliable in terms of image quality. Keep in mind that the lens has an extremely wide 170° field of view which will include an extended amount of your surroundings. We can count on an extended depth of field with the f/8 aperture and fairly sharp subjects with 1/100 shutter speed.

You can count on a close focusing distance of just 10 cm, and don't forget that the closer you will go to your subject the more extreme the distortion and the funnier it is.

If that was not enough, one overlooked feature of the camera is the multiple exposure switch. Dare we say that this is one of the most fun combinations we could have thought of? The distorted lens is well suited for fun and dynamic compositions.

The Fisheye lends itself well to shoot without looking through the viewfinder. It is one of the best cameras to practice your photography freestyle. As you walk around with this lightweight camera in your hands, ideas and opportunity will simply be at your fingertips.

It is a creative way to mix up your composition by considering odd angles and thinking about vertical lines and subjects in relation to the distorted final image you will get.

As always when we work with double exposures we should consider our points of dark and light and that anything that is in the lighter area will be overwritten in the next shot while the dark part will be visible.

The multiple exposure is one of those features that when mastered will add a layer of unexpected fun to your images. To pair it with a lens that plays with distortion adds a layer of experimentation. We believe that your camera is an extension of your life, not an interference, therefore have fun and don't be afraid to use your camera in the most unusual ways.
