Ferrania Solaris FG Plus 400: Somewhat Disappointing

After the Ferrania Solaris 100 and 200, I have now tested the Ferrania FG Plus 400. If you want to know more about this film, go ahead and read on!

After I’ve already tested the Ferrania Solaris FG Plus 100 and 200 of the manufacturer from Italy. I finally got a roll of Ferrania Solaris FG Plus 400 in my hands. I like the pictures, especially because of the colors from the Ferrania films.

Since ISO 100 is a little bit slow, I was hoping for good results in higher sensitivity. I have exposed the film in the Sprocket Rocket, because Ferrania films have great sprockets. Looking at the results, I was somewhat disappointed. The pictures just do not really look clean cut, as I’m used to seeing from the Ferrania films. The colors are somewhat dull as well.

In some cases, it might be due to the cloudy sky in Hamburg and also because it has already expired for some time. Nevertheless, there are some points that I like. For an ISO 400 film, it still has a decent speed. Moreover, thanks to its high sensitivity, all images are properly exposed and not underexposed. I especially liked the great sprockets of the Ferrania Solaris FG Plus 400 and the good contrast.

Meanwhile, the film was changed and, unfortunately, is now hard to come by. If even a few rolls of this film are offered, they are mostly rolls with 12 exposures. However, they are relatively inexpensive. I’m going to expose a roll next time in sunny conditions. If I get even a part of the even rarer Ferrania 800 in my hands, I will also write a review on the highly sensitive film.
