Kodak T-MAX P3200: A Speedy Film

More than a year ago, I bought the Kodak T-Max 3200P because I thought that I would need it for Christmas. Time passed the film remained unused in the freezer. The summer months passed by just as fast and still, the film was unused.

In Christmas 2011, I was reminded of the frozen film and I took it out of its cold prison to use it on a trip through the wintry city for some recordings. The black and white film is manufactured by Kodak and is the most sensitive film from the Rochester manufacturer.

The film can be pushed up to an incredible ISO 25000, but you won't get grain-free images. I like this film very much since the grain adds to the aesthetics of the image. It need not always be a grain-free picture. Another great feature of this film is certainly the high sensitivity. Steady shots in low light conditions are possible because the camera can select a shorter exposure time. Also, a flash can be omitted and you can indulge in 'available light' photography.

I have taken the photos with the Lomo LC-A+ at ISO 1600 setting, since the camera, has no setting for ISO 3200, and it was developed at ISO 1600. I used the Kodak powder developer "Kodak XTOL". I recommend it for developing Kodak T-Max P3200 so that you have full control of the film.

The Kodak T-Max P3200 is not the cheapest film, but try it anyway and let yourself be enchanted by the amazing low-light photography. The film is only available as 35mm. For medium format, I'd recommend the Ilford Delta 3200.
