Boulders Beach, South Africa
written by neja on 2012-06-04 #placesBoulders Beach - the African penguins' paradise. Started in 1982 by Adam and Eve of the Penguins, it has grown to about 2200 in recent years. This is partly due to the reduction in commercial pelagic trawling in False Bay, which has increased the supply of pilchards and anchovy, that is so adored by the penguins. They like to eat squid as well. The African penguin is listed in the Red Data Book as an endangered specie.

It 's always up, about an hour or so, but it's quite picturesque road full of beautiful residential houses, parks and real Chocolate Factory (worth stopping at it's shop for real local made dark chocolate).

There are many places for watching sunset in Cape Town: ever popular Camps Bay where you can watch the sun set while sipping Mojito, as well as enjoying champaign alfresco on the top of the Lion's Head mountain if you are into hiking. But arguably the most incredible of all is the sunset seen from the place called Dolphin Beach.

Cascais, Portugal
written by neja on 2009-01-04 #placesCascais is a little sweet town on the Atlantic Ocean coast, just outside of Lisbon. It takes only 40 minutes by train from Cais do Sodre train station. Return trip costs 1.40 Euro and the view through the train's window is just marvelous. You can literally see how the Grand River Tejo becomes the ocean.
